We celebrate the world’s greatest composers by spotlighting less performed music. Using themes based on Russian folk tunes, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2, is one of his most joyful works.

Featured Artist: Dana Rath, mandolinist, has devoted his musical career to reawakening interest in the mandolin family of instruments. He is a founding member of the Grammy nominated “Modern Mandolin Quartet.”  Dana’s interest in the mandolin began while studying classical guitar at Loyola University in New Orleans. He then studied in Europe with mandolin virtuoso Keith Harris and other instructors including Gertrud Troester, Emanuel Sheynkman, Mike Marshal and Andy Statman. Dana has recorded new works by Alexis Alrich and Larry Polanski for Opus One Records. He has also performed with the Berkeley Symphony,  Louisville Symphony,  San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater and the Left Coast Ensemble. Over the years he has shared the stage with musicians Matt Haimovitz, Chris Thile,  David Tanenbaum as well as many others. Dana’s musical interests are wide ranging which have taken him to perform almost any musical genre from Bach to Bluegrass to his original compositions. He Currently resides in Marin County, Ca.
